if on school website it says letter is needed from science faculty member, does it have to be from your own school? or can it be from other school (ex. did research under PI at another school)?

EDIT: sorry thought of another question. can it also be a PI at my own school that I did research with but didn’t take a course with? in a weird situation bc I had a thesis course where my PI marked me but isn’t the course instructor….

**most interested in NYU and uPenn if context matters

only recently became interested in dentistry but i still want to apply this cycle. would i still be competitive for good schools (ex. upenn) or are any of these serious red flags? also canadian applicant, if context matters.

- taking DAT mid june
- only started shadowing in april, will probably only have max 100 hours by time of submission
- planning to submit in july
- no dent specific ECs (but 1000+ volunteer hours, and a lot of research experience and varsity all 4 years)
- 3.93 gpa (not sure what’s considered competitive as an international/canadian applicant)
