Bus fine despite tapping card
This morning my girlfriend and I took the bus in Rome. Once we got on I waited until it stopped moving and tapped my debit card on the little tap and go screen. It went through.
A few minutes later when there was a chance my girlfriend tapped her card. About a minute later 2 of the ATAC guys got on the bus and walked right towards us, accused my girlfriend of not paying and started taking her info. The other guy demanded my info and without saying anything spent a while punching it in. They forced us off the bus, told us we had to pay a fine, tapped our cards on their devices and charged us 55 euro each.
My girlfriend got a fee printed out but I don’t have one. I checked my bank and I have the fine listed and then the tap payment looks to have finally come through afterwards. Maybe there was a delay between when the tap happened and when the charge appeared? But in any case we did pay so I’m not sure why this happened. Anything I can do to dispute it?
