2023 MCA Grad, 2 Internships Later and Still Jobless. Need Career Advice

I’m a 2023 MCA graduate and honestly, the last 2 years have felt like an endless loop.

I’ve completed 2 internships so far, one remote and one onsite in Gurugram. During my first internship, they offered me a full-time role, but the salary was only around 10-12k, plus there were trust and management issues, so I didn’t continue.

In June last year, I got an SDE Intern offer from a product-based startup in Noida that was building a recruitment platform. They promised full-time conversion based on performance, so I joined and moved there.

But on my very first day, even seniors warned me about the company. They told me an earlier intern had done a huge amount of work, got converted to full-time, but only received a tiny salary increase. Later, the CEO fired him instantly over some issue. That completely shattered my confidence in the company.

Just 15 days after joining, I got a call from a well-known healthcare product company related to Tata. The brand name, work culture, and employee reputation were much better, so I really wanted to join. I cleared the technical round and managerial discussion, but the stipend they offered was almost half of what I was getting in Noida. HR refused to negotiate and said I’d be converted to full-time within 3 months, so I still accepted because I wanted to leave the previous company ASAP.

During the managerial discussion, my manager told me she was building a technical team and that I’d be the core backend developer. After joining, she gave me product overviews, future plans, and assured me I’d become a full-time employee.

But after around 2 months, I found out I wasn’t even officially part of the tech team, despite working as a backend developer intern. When I raised this concern, my manager told me not to worry and that she’d handle it.

Then in October, the company paused hiring.

I started job hunting again and got another offer in December, but they wanted immediate joining. I wanted to complete my internship properly, so I had to decline it. By January 2026, I had nothing again.

Now it’s mid-2026, and I’m still jobless.

I even started learning newer technologies like GenAI development to improve my chances, but I’m still not getting responses. At this point, I genuinely don’t know what I’m doing wrong or whether it’s time to completely switch roles/career paths. I’m genuinely trying to improve myself and stay consistent, but at this point I feel very confused about what direction I should take next.

I’d really appreciate honest advice from people who’ve been through similar situations or are experienced in the industry. Should I continue in backend/GenAI, focus on something else, or rethink my career path entirely?

TL;DR : 2023 MCA grad with 2 internships, multiple job switches and broken full-time promises. Still jobless in 2026, seeking honest career advice on whether to continue backend/GenAI or change direction.
