Looking for daily driver rig ideas capable of moderate difficulty trails
Hi all, I'm currently in a Nissan Xterra and it meets most of my driving needs as a stock vehicle; my main issues are that its continually getting worse on gas and maintenance costs are quickly rising. I'm on fixed income and working with a very tight budget so I'm now debating if it makes sense to continue repairing my current rig or look for something else that's better on gas.
I average around 35,000 miles a year and a fair number of those are offroad to reach remote areas for wildlife releases.
My main requirements are a minimum of 20mpg (more is certainly better), ground clearance to navigate moderate trails, and room to sleep in the vehicle mostly flat. I'm open to hybrids as long as they meet the off-road needs as close to stock as possible. I'm looking to buy something used and pay cash, so older models are totally fine.
