First time visiting Vietnam 🇻🇳 (Hanoi) this August – Looking for tips & hoping to meet people!
Hi everyone!
I’m an economics student from India, and I’ll be visiting Vietnam for the first time this August for a conference in Hanoi. I’ll have some free time before and after the event, so I’m hoping to explore the city and experience the local culture.
I’d love some advice from locals and experienced travelers:
Must-try local food (especially street food!)
Cafés, bookstores, or hidden gems worth visiting
Places to experience authentic Hanoi beyond the typical tourist spots
Any cultural etiquette or common mistakes first-time visitors should know about
The best way to get around the city (Grab, buses, walking, etc.)
Any day trips you’d recommend?
