Any aftermarket shallow spools that fit the standard KastKing MegaJaws?
Hey everyone,
I have the standard KastKing MegaJaws (the non-Elite version with the AutoMag Dual braking system) and I’m trying to make it more suitable for lighter lures.
Buying a dedicated BFS reel isn’t really an option for me right now, so I’m trying to see how far I can push this one. I plan on upgrading the spool bearings later, but first I’d like to find a shallow spool that reduces weight and inertia so I can cast lighter baits more effectively.
I know there’s a MegaJaws Elite Shallow Spool version, but it’s made for the Elite model (different braking system and shorter shaft), so it doesn’t look like a direct fit.
Has anyone found or used an aftermarket shallow spool that works with the standard MegaJaws and is compatible with the AutoMag Dual braking system? Any info or leads would be appreciated.
