Cosmedica (Dr Acar) vs TJ Hair Clinic (Dr Sergio)
I’ve been researching hair transplants for a while now and I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to Cosmedica in Turkey and TJ Hair Clinic in Tijuana.
For context, Cosmedica was originally my first choice once I got serious about getting a transplant. But lately I’ve been reconsidering because of the travel and overall logistics. The ticket savings are nice too, but honestly convenience is becoming a bigger factor.
I live in Los Angeles, so TJ is realistically a 3-hour drive for me. I’d basically be back home within a day instead of dealing with international travel and recovery overseas.
One thing I keep hearing is that even at respectable clinics like Cosmedica, a lot of the actual procedure is still technician-driven anyway, which makes me wonder how big the quality gap actually is. I had a consultation call with TJ Hair Clinic today and they were honestly really reassuring. Apparently the doctor is involved throughout the whole surgery. They addressed concerns I had about temples, hairline design, and donor area, and overall made me feel a lot more comfortable now.
So I guess my question is:
Is the quality difference between a Cosmedica and TJ Hair Clinic really significant enough to justify flying to Turkey? Or at a certain point are you mostly paying/traveling for reputation and volume rather than a dramatically different result?
