Ghosted for 6 weeks after verbal offer, then hit me with “my bad… you still looking?”

Been grinding the tech sales job market for almost 6 months now (laid off the monday after xmas) and this has me pissed off to a whole new level.
Back in March, I went through a full interview loop at an MSP. Multiple rounds with the CRO (who would’ve been my boss), CTO, and CEO. Process felt solid. All executives connected with me on linkedin and I got positive feedbcak on all my interview rounds. On March 20th the CRO tells me I should expect an offer letter in the next few days. A clear verbal soft offer.
Then… nothing.
Complete ghost for over 6 weeks. Even after following up.

Yesterday morning (May 18th) I get this email:

“CMXCIXwords,
We fell out of touch….my bad.
Are you still looking?
Mark”

That was the entire email.

I replied within 20 minutes saying yes and asking for a good time to reconnect. Radio silence since. This is coming from a CRO. The person whose entire job is revenue, pipeline management, follow-up, and closing deals. If this is how leadership operates internally, I can’t imagine what it’s like trying to hit quota or get support there. The broader market just feels cooked right now too...
-Ghost jobs everywhere
-AI/ATS eating resumes
-Executives that are incompetent at best, and cruel at worst.

Has anyone else run into this level of absolute bs lately? Especially from sales/revenue leaders who should know better? What’s actually working for you in 2026 tech sales job hunting? Referrals? Niche communities? Specific tools? I’m all ears. I need to land something soon.
Vent or advice welcome. This shit is demoralizing.
