Opinions on these plans, and recommendation with regard to our over all intent?
We're aiming to build this smaller "temp" house only to live it for 1~2 years (while we demolish and rebuild our "current" house, located on our for-ever-lot). We will then try to rent the "temp" one, with the option of selling (if renting turns out to be too much of a hassle).
The foundation is 28' x 36' and will be located on a nice slop allowing lending itself to the walk-out basement at the back. Most of the basement will likely not be finished when we move in, but it's being planned out to be an apartment.
The pictures are the preliminary plans that we've worked on with a professional.
Looking for:
- Opinions on the current floor plans and the overall use of the available space, layout efficiency.
- Recommendations with regard to designing a house with future rental use in mind (including the basement apartment)? e.g. “wise” design choices or options we should consider now that could help reduce long-term risks, maintenance, noise issues, tenant-related problems and etc.?
