Hiding detail from the patch notes risks putting the game in a death spiral.

Dice dice dice…
There are changes specifically that I’ve noted not being in the patch notes, and if this isn’t a mistake, then the behaviour of manipulating things behind the scenes is what drove me specifically from Warzone and will kill Redsec BR for players much quicker.

Real patch notes:
We have removed the rank display on player cards in killcams and in game. We noted the concerns around players routinely getting placed against T250 players and massive rank disparity. Instead of doing things to enhance the experience and build a player base to enable more effective matchmaking pools, we have now hidden this information! So you can be left in limbo around whether or not you are truly competing at a certain level or that you are simply part of the 40% of the lobby that is fodder for the Top250 stack currently on their 8th win in a row. We also note that given the current matchmaking, the “Ranked” element is somewhat irrelevant - well good news, this change now makes it COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT as you have no idea who you are supposedly competing against in what is marketed as battlefields only competitive mode! You now have 2 playlists, one with tanks, one with 1 - 3 teams that will mercilessly hunt you down for points only they can see.

Despite what politicians will try to showcase, you can’t just force change a narrative to shut people up.
We know the player base is small, we know we’re playing against the same people and I damn well know if the 4 guys running at me holding each others pockets are top end players.

Own your shit, improve the game, address the matchmaking.

Oh and nerf the fucking SVDM.

Addressing the Player count will fix a lot of what’s wrong with the Ranked experience.

Right off the bat, this slow, drip fed approach to implementation of Ranked via public labs is chronically holding back the Ranked component of Redsec BR. We are staring at 2 whole seasons of “we’re continuing to review feedback and make adjustments to the ranked experience” - it’s.too.slow.

By doing so, they have grossly underestimated the general players investment in their product and as a result the player pool is so small that they cannot run what I would say is a legitimate competitive ladder system. Love them or hate them, investment from bigger streamers provides a massive boost to player count and boosts a product, you also get more focus on obnoxious metas (cough SVDM) which can be addressed quicker - but they’ve all lost interest.

By poorly advertising it and half-assed investment (what happened to this global tournament?), the player pool is so limited that all matchmaking restrictions had to be lifted, and the disparity in every lobby is so drastic that as others have pointed out, the “Rank” element is merely a participation/time investment badge rather than an actual achievement.

I play a fair amount of randoms, I was master 5 last season and currently plat 5, and for what is marketed as a competitive experience I fully expect to be pitted against the top end of player and see T250’s regularly, which I do almost every game. But then being paired up with rookies and Bronzes is just ridiculous. Some players legitimately look like they don’t know how they got there, and look everyone’s got a level, but I can’t team up with bronzes outside of the game, I should not be matched with them in soloQ it’s that simple - but the player pool can’t fulfil it.

Until they decide if they want to actively back this or just slowly piece it together for an ever decreasing player pool it will be a case of - If you’re not part of a similarly high skilled team, or on the high skilled discord, you are simply fodder for the high skilled team from discord.

Cheers, see you in the next game (or maybe not, if you’re ranked Plat or higher).

Weapon Balancing post-ranked season 1

I know not everyone plays the ranked BR, but given that ranked modes tend to draw out the keenest of keen and thus metas/cheeses get discovered quickly I thought it would be good to reflect and (hopefully) provoke some weapon balancing tweaks before the next season/redsec in general. Below is my opinion just to promote discussion!

Urgent changes

  1. DMR/ SVDM. Difficult to get right I know but having a high damage, low recoil, high fire rate, high velocity and generous magazine is like 5 of the red flags for game play balance. It needs a pass as 2-3 of those points at least, or possibly even an attachment restriction in ranked. A cohesive team with multiple users leaves very little room for counterplay. Additionally any tweaks need to be followed with a pass at the EMR as that’s not far behind.

2)Assault launcher gadget. Assault has leapfrogged to the standout class in the mode with quicker plating speed, quicker redeploys and the cover annihilator. If you’ve got multiple assault players you can level a 4 story building let alone a hut. Personally I think its ammo count should be reduced to 3 from 5. Alone you can make an entrance/wipe out a cabin and your squad can still destroy a house if there’s 2 of you but it would be less obnoxious than it is now.

Minor tweak

  1. Flinch on LMGs and Snipers. KTS is the standout, and if the DMRs get nerfed then it’ll be back in force but to mitigate its long range laser capability maybe introduce more flinch when being hit while delivering sustained fire to allow people to break its pattern. Currently you can get into scenarios where it’s a bit of a hose off between two users which just feels silly.

Aside from shotguns being in the gutter (personally I think they should stay there but that’s just me)the game feels pretty well balanced to be honest. Compared to utterly busted meta periods experienced in Warzone this hasn’t been nearly as obnoxious.

Company car decision

Hi all, fielding for some opinions - I’m able to select a company car as part of a new job and I’m quite excited by the options compared to previous jobs.
I’ve narrowed it down to two plug in hybrid wagons:

2026 Audi A5 PHEV Quattro
2025 BMW 330e M sport

Looking to hear people’s opinions on either, particularly driving experiences as whichever I choose I’ll likely be in it a lot for work, plus it will take the role of the family car too.

Much appreciated!
