Vanguard 29 hp oil capacity
I just picked up a used Grasshopper 329B with a Vanguard 29 HP engine. I changed the oil on the engine. I googled the oil capacity and multiple places, including vanguard website, said 78 oz or 2.4 quarts of oil with a filter change. Before I changed the oil I checked the dipstick and it was right where it should be. I drained oil into a pan and changed filter. Added a little less than 2.5 quarts and ran the engine. Checked the oil next day when it was cold and it was way over full. I drained almost a quart to get it to the hash marks. I know all the old oil was drained out the first time and only clean oil came out the second time. My question is, what is the correct dipstick part number? The one that’s in it has 809335 on it. My research using my model number says it should be 841007. Or if someone could give me an overall length of the dipstick that would be great. Or if someone can confirm that it takes 2.4 quarts then I will just remark the dipstick I have to that level. I just can’t believe that it only holds 1.5 quarts, my 19hp Briggs holds that much.
