Please help… termites or not?
Please help me amazingly smart people of Reddit.
These clumps of flying bugs appear during a short period once or so a year in my yard in an area where I’ve had termites before. You can zoom in on them and they do look like termite swarmers.
When I bought the house there was old marks on outside of concrete foundation showing old mud tubes. The first year I had termite tubes come through the drywall downstairs in a couple spots obviously very bad news. I treated them locally by drilling and filling with termite poison. Never saw them again inside or around the exterior, this was three years ago.
I have these swarm events once a year and thought they were little aphids or ants or something. Then I put everything together and I’m worried they are termite swarmers.
But my wife and I swear we can see them give birth in these clumps. They are very tiny maybe 2mm-3mm max.
I live in Pacific Northwest, Oregon. I have a lush moist lawn.
Please help identify because if they’re termites then maybe I have a massive nest under my lawn. But everything I’ve read shows larger, black, red termites. In this region or Oregon we do have lighter color slow eating termites which do look similar.
