Hello!

I'm from the EU and recently moved to France with my French partner. I am a qualified ESL teacher and would like to try becoming self employed/teaching online but I don't have a social security number. I've been advised that it's easier to find a job as a nanny/a English tutor with a company first, get my social security number sorted, and then try to set myself up as self employed. Would love to hear from anyone in a similar situation who managed to become self-employed as soon as they arrived.

I was thinking about starting a silent book club in Paris. I can see that there was one at one stage but they haven't organised anything for a few years.

The idea would be that we would meet up at a certain café, buy a coffee and read our own books for a set amount of time. Then afterwards if people would like to stay to have a chat about what they're reading they can. Very low pressure, introvert-friendly.
