Solo road trip USA (F26)
Hello everyone, I have a holiday planned in the USA that’s coming in 2 weeks (so no refunds possible, all accommodations, attractions and the rental car are already paid for). I was supposed to go with my husband but unfortunately he cheated on me and we are getting a divorce, so I’m thinking about going alone. I’ve never been in the USA, and I have never solo traveled before. Do you think it’s safe and a good idea? If so, do you have any advice for me? I would greatly appreciate it.
I’ll show you the itinerary:
June 1–5: New York City (4 nights)
Explore NYC (Manhattan, main sights, etc.).
Pick up rental car when leaving NYC.
June 5–8: Washington, DC (3 nights)
Museums, Capitol, monuments, Georgetown.
June 8–10: Charleston (2 nights)
Drive from DC (~9–10 hours), spend time in the historic city.
June 10–13: Orlando (3 nights)
Theme parks + Kennedy Space Center/NASA as a day trip.
June 13–17: Miami (4 nights)
Beach, city, relax.
June 17–18: Key West (1 night)
Scenic drive through the Florida Keys.
June 18–20: Tampa / Busch Gardens (2 nights)
Mainly for Busch Gardens theme park.
June 20–21: Savannah (1 night)
Charming southern city stop.
June 21–22: Richmond / Annapolis area (1 night)
Road trip stop on the way back north.
June 22–23: Philadelphia (1 night)
Short city stop.
June 23–24: New York area (1 night, near JFK)
Final overnight before the flight home.
Overall:
A ~3.5 week East Coast road trip: NYC → DC → Charleston → Florida → Savannah → back north through Philadelphia → NYC, mostly by rental car after New York.
