More than a thousand Mid-Day Meal workers across the state observed a statewide strike today and held a massive demonstration in Shimla.
The protesters claimed that around 21,000 mid-day meal workers received Rs 5,000 each per month, with no increase in their remuneration for the last 17 years. They demanded Rs 7,000 monthly wages, EPF, ESI, pension, gratuity, 20 leaves, and regular payments.

The workers marched from Talland to the State Secretariat, raising slogans against both State and Central govts over low wages, job insecurity and privatisation policies.

A war criminal is currently roaming around the mountains of Himachal Pradesh.
The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) has filed an urgent complaint with the police in India, the country’s Ministry of Home Affairs, and its Bureau of Immigration, demanding the immediate arrest of Eitan Gilboa, an Israeli national currently visiting Himachal Pradesh. HRF is a Belgium-based investigative organisation, which seeks legal action against individuals accused of war crimes in Gaza. The foundation is named in honor of Hind Rajab, a five-year-old Palestinian girl from the Gaza Strip who was killed during the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip by the Israel Defense Forces, who also killed six members of her family and two paramedics coming to her rescue.
The foundation said it “has submitted a detailed investigative report proving that Gilboa, a reservist in the Israeli army, personally carried out and celebrated the systematic demolition of entire residential blocks in Gaza as acts of revenge, constituting war crimes under the Geneva Conventions Act, 1960.” “As a signatory to the convention, India is legally obligated under Article 146 of the Geneva Conventions to search for and prosecute individuals alleged to have committed grave breaches, regardless of nationality,” the foundation said. The group said the Israeli reservist is currently located in a village in Himachal Pradesh. “Eitan Gilboa is not a tourist. He is a war criminal currently enjoying the hospitality of India while fleeing the consequences of his crimes,” said Dyab Abou Jahjah, the general director of the Hind Rajab Foundation. He went on to say: “He has publicly documented himself turning entire neighborhoods in Gaza into ash and dust, dedicating these massacres to fallen soldiers as acts of revenge.
The videos show him triggering explosives that wiped out entire residential buildings in Gaza. India must act immediately to arrest him. It must not allow Indian soil to become a safe haven for those who celebrate the destruction of civilian lives.
