Sigma Zoom-γ II 21-35mm f3.5-4.2 tested on slide film and digital

This is my first ultrawide zoom, Sigma 21-35mm "mark II" (the 77mm version). I paid £65 for it in December 2025.

Example pics:
1-3: Velvia 50 RVP, Iceland in January. Bit ambitious for handheld shooting!
4-6: Lumix S1R with K&F adaptor
7-10: Foma 50R b/w reversal film on a Canon AE1 (automatically metered)

I like this lens a lot. Still trying to find the right lenshood for it since it flares something awful! Other than that, I recommend it especially for anyone thinking about trying out wider focal lengths. It's a good entry point. Very easy to focus too despite being a slower lens.

I don't notice much colour fringing, a personal bugbear of mine. It has some vignetting and mustache distortion but again I'm not shooting at 21mm for stark realism.

At some point I'll do a side-by-side comparison with this and my 28mm f2.8 Canon FD.

Thanks for reading along!
