Yesterday I played Minecraft 1.12 with my sister and we made a horror atmosphere setup: dark room, minimal graphics, chat only.

Today (May 17, 2026) I launched the newest snapshot version of Minecraft without mods and found a world called “World1” in my saves list. I NEVER created it.

Details:

• The world icon was black-and-white.
• Clicking “Play” did nothing / failed.
• The folder only contains:
  • weird folders named 0, 1, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e
  • level.dat
  • level.dat_old
  • session.lock
• level.dat and level.dat_old are only ~345 bytes.
• No region, data, playerdata, etc.
• The folders were apparently created yesterday.

One theory is that an old Minecraft version accidentally created it, but then why didn’t I see it yesterday?

Has anyone ever seen something like this before?
