Dog bit husband
So, I’m going to keep this shortish. I have a 10 year old border collie mix who is reactive. She’s been with my partner and I for 8 years, but had multiple unknown experiences before that (rescue with various paperwork). I’ve done a bunch of training with her on her reactivity and fear based lunging, but my husband hasn’t been there for the classes, etc. I’ve always been the preferred human, and they have a good relationship like 98% of the time. The other 2% is when she’s guarding me, stressed about our emotions (she’s super sensitive to vibes) and seeks comfort from me.
Today was bad. No clear trigger, but I think she was guarding me. It was a bite, but no marks or blood. He got angry (reasonable) and yelled and was kinda aggressive about banishing her to another room (less ideal, but I understand and am currently not asking for help with this part).
Am I, as the object of her guarding, in a position to help this situation? Are there was to change my behavior or training with my doggo to disrupt her guarding response?
Thanks for your help! She’s the sweetest girl almost all of the time (with both of us), but has these scary blips that are not tenable. All guidance appreciated.
