I have a two bed flat. Tenant A wants to leave (because Tenant B is crazy). If Tenant A gives notice to leave, this voids the joint tenancy.

I understand I don’t have to issue a new tenancy, nor give permission to allow Tensnt B to find a new replacement Tenant for Tenant A.

In this situation does Tenant B become liable for the whole apartments rent? If Tensnt B refuses to leave what are my rights?

Irrespective of his controversial life, I’m shocked by this news. In London of all places, he should have been given the anonymity necessary to recover and rebuild a more honest and grounded career.

Apparently he recently told The Times: “I am accountable for the mistakes I’ve made. I hold myself accountable and other people should hold me accountable”

“We’re talking about academia here. I didn’t murder somebody.”

He’d resigned, Cambridge had announced an investigation, he should have been allowed to disappear into obscurity.

Instead, the newspapers collectively unleashed a destructive pursuit on one clearly unhinged man.

Instead of investigating the people involved in Cambridge Universities failure to fully vet someone, for arguably one the most prestigious academic position in the U.K. if not the world.

Cambridge failed spectacularly, and together with the newspapers assault on him, we have one dead, and two kids without a father.

And ultimately no one’s going to be held accountable.

Blasphemy I know, but I want to move elsewhere in South Africa. I love nature, and warmer, friendlier people.

Where would you go if employment/finances were not an issue. And importantly, why.

If you lose your job, and can’t pay rent, does SA have safety nets? Or do you end up in an informal settlements?

I ask because I have close friends who’re renting, with precarious work contracts in Cape Town, and the idea they might literally become homeless overnight is absolutely awful.
