Good morning!

I hope this is the right place to ask this sort of question. I tried calling the IRS, but nobody is on the phones.

I'm a college student who was working one job, paying just under $15,000. I filled out my W4 two months ago and said I was exempt. I am now starting a second position for the summer, and the extra pay puts me around $23,000.

To complicate things, I just realized I paid taxes on a $1,900 grant I received last summer, although I'm not sure whether I got a return. Having paid taxes in the past means I wasn't even exempt when I took the first job, right?

In filling out the W4 for the second job, should I say I'm not exempt? And should I edit the W4 that I already filled out?

Any guidance is much appreciated!
