Surprise/Early Parole Meeting w/No Notice

Sorry, I've never dealt with the prison system at all and no one in my family has so I have to come here.

My husband's first parole hearing was supposed to be in August of this year. He called me this morning about an hour ago to tell me they woke him up and told him his hearing is right now. They also gave him a few minutes to call me first.

The others in his block told him they usually contact the family first (and send us forms to fill out) and I was under the impression that it wasn't just...a surprise?

I'm just not really sure if he's in trouble or anything. He did just get accepted to a work program and finished education credits. But he's not even due out until 2028 so we have no clue what to expect.
