El Tigre
Finally got a sizable tiger into the net this spring.
Last year I hooked into a couple big ones, but they both bested me in the fight. The first one took a Chironomid and immediately wrapped around a log and broke me off within 2 seconds of being hooked. The second one was massive. I hooked him on a little size 16 leech and he took off like a freight train straight for a weed bed. I tried to put the brakes on him and proceeded to bend the hook wide open.
After struggling under the bright sun for much of the day, the action began to heat up when the sun dropped behind the canyon wall. This year’s fish came on a lightly weighted damsel nymph, slow stripped over a shallow portion of the lake with active fish. I was able to put another 5 fish in the net before the cold and darkness sent me back to my car for the night.
