Postgrad Accommodation: Thurso Street vs Kelvingrove House

I'm starting my masters in the fall and, as an international student, I'm a bit unsure with some of the terminology used to describe room types in the housing application. Thurso has:

  • Accessible Double
  • Large Standard Double
  • Large High Double
  • Extra Large Standard Double
  • Extra Large High Double

While Kelvingrove House has:

  • Single Ensuite
  • Ground Floor Studio
  • Studio

I understand an ensuite is a room with a bathroom attached and a studio is a room for one person with a kitchen and living room included, but I'm not sure what the whole large vs high vs extra large double room thing is. Does anyone know what exactly the differences between the rooms above are?

Postgrad Accommodations: Cleanliness

I'm a 22F international student and looking into accommodations for the 2026-27 school year.

All the info is a tad overwhelming - I'm thinking maybe Thurson? I want something close to campus with an ensuite since I like to have my own space/keep things clean. Any recs for buildings or room types?

From past experiences in uni, there's usually a few dorms known for being gross/having roaches/plumbing problems, so I was wondering if there are any at Glasgow that students might avoid for those reasons? Also, do students dispose of trash in indoor/outdoor dumpsters or is there a pick up day like in the US?
