How long does it take to hear back from dining hall applications?
Hi all!
Do you guys know anything or have a rough estimate of how long it takes it hear back from dining hall applications? I try applying to the dining hall several times each year on Handshake (I’m a junior now). Similarly, for other UC CHES jobs, I applied on the dot as soon as the mailroom clerk job listing opened and I plan to do the same for another one. Every time, it just seems like I’m ghosted and left on “applied”.
I see that they viewed my profile on Handshake, so they received my application. I honestly don’t feel, or at least hope, that my profile is off-putting or anything like that? I tried to display myself as very friendly and passionate as much as I could for a Handshake profile. My availability was very open too and I put that I was available all day on most days to hopefully show I’m willing to work overtime or closing shifts, etc. I emailed the dining hall, DM’ed them on Instagram, and I even DM’ed the hiring manager here on Reddit to ask for more insight on this. No response from all.
Sorry, I know I’m very desperate but I’m honestly just kind of at a loss at why I’m always ghosted by the dining hall. Do you guys have any tips or insight? I always hear people saying the dining hall is “always hiring” but I feel like it’s actually so competitive. I talked to several of my friends and they have yet to hear back as well. I couldn’t put much on my application either, so do they have specific criteria I just didn’t meet? I really want to work just for the overall experience and I actually really like the dining hall. I’m just kind of bummed I can’t really translate that passion since I seem to be ghosted every year. I think I’d rather have a rejection notice so I know to give up at least..
