Still Impressed

These Recteqs always impress me with how much smoke output you get at 225, with minimal effort.

Hope everyone is getting to use theirs this 4th!

Support Suggestions

Currently having the good problem of my tomatoes growing significantly taller than last year, but unfortunately they are outgrowing my supports and I’m worried the tops are going to break off. There’s already some tomatoes starting at the very top. I totally understand there are better support structures but at this point, what would be my best option to minimize stress on the plants but also provide decent support for the rest of the going season?

I’ve done some research on my own and have a couple of ideas, but if anyone had advice I’d greatly appreciate it.

For Comparison

I’ve seen a few posts and comments about the hopper size on the new 900 and figured I’d provide these as a reference for anyone considering it over the 800. This is a Boston butt overnight on my 800 and the pellet consumption front full at the beginning, 12ish hours, and 16 hours when I pulled it.

Personally it seems to me that the new hopper would be fine, although I agree bigger is better.

Thank you all!

Just wanted to say thank you to the sub for giving me the confidence to go out and find some older cast iron, restore it, and cook with it. I always wanted to use cast iron and got into it with gifts of lower end modern pans, like lodge. I liked them but always found a reason to not use them unless I made a point to find a meal for the pans. These two have been a joy to use and I have started using them as my default. I know theoretically there’s no real difference to a lodge if you cook “the right way”, but there’s just something about these that just makes it that much better. Thank you all very much

Rant over
