I'm interested in the Bachelor of Science in Photonic Science and Engineering degree at UCF. I have put a lot of thought into these questions. If you're a graduate student, you can answer these questions and differentiate whether being a master's/PhD student matters. Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.

  1. Are undergraduate research opportunities in CREOL plentiful or hard to come by? How did you get one?
  2. How's getting optical engineering internships through UCF resources like?
  3. Are there a lot of optical engineering internships out there for you? Do you have to create one by cold emailing HR, etc.? How many did you apply to in one summer season, and what was the result?
  4. Do all your optics classmates get internships? How did they get it?
  5. Are Co-op (internship during Fall/Spring) opportunities plentiful in the greater Orlando area?
  6. How is the Full-time job market? Does everyone you know in the major get an offer? Do you wish that you had taken longer-term internships even though it would have delayed graduation?
  7. Things you wish you had been told? About the program, UCF, getting internships, full-time offers, etc...
  8. What would you have done differently to better your outcomes or make life easier? Things you would go back and tell yourself?
  9. So as not to go into the major in the dark, alumni or current students, I would love to interview you on your experiences in the BS PSE program. Feel free to leave a note in your comment or private message me if you're open to being interviewed.
