HELP NEEDED. Potential PDK issue on my newly acquired 981

A week ago I purchased a 2013 981 base with 32k miles from an older gentleman who seldomly drove the vehicle. The car was pristine and I got a decent deal and the PPI came back perfect so I pulled the trigger and drove the car ~1500 miles back home on a road trip.

The first 2 days of the trip were completely trouble free. The car completed around 700 miles continuously before any issue arose.

On day 3, the car gave me the “Transmission fault Poss. No reverse” message on an upshift, locking me into 2nd gear. The warning went away after I restarted the vehicle, allowing me to continue driving for a few hours.

On day 4, the issue came back after a few hours of driving. The car suddenly started hunting between 6-7th gear, eventually locking me to 6th with the same warning. Restarting the car cleared it for a few minutes but it came back and locked me back into 6th on the freeway.

Upon limping it home, I restarted again due to not being able to drive the car in 6th at low speeds. This time the transmission fault never came back on, but I got a check engine light instead with the car running and shifting weirdly.

I took it to a local mechanic, who performed a simple scan and yielded the following codes:

DME: P0564 P0700 Transmission control: P1733 P1737 P1743 P1771 P18B4

After clearing all codes, the car had been driving normally for the rest of the day with no warnings.

I am strongly suspecting that the distance sensor has started to fail intermittently. If anyone here has insight on what else this could possibly be, any anecdotes would be strongly appreciated.

Also, I would like to know if there are any shops in SoCal willing to take on a distance sensor repair at a sane price. I have made a few inquiries and it seems every shop either doesn’t do this repair or is charging absolutely nuts money for it (10k+). I would be willing to purchase and provide the part, and just need ANY shop or Indy mechanic who is willing to take on the job.

Any advice would be appreciated!
