My 2 cents about not getting interviews yet

I think realistically deep down everyone knows that they still have a high chance of getting interviews cuz it’s so early in the season . But that’s not the problem . The problem is that every time someone gets an interview from a program that you wanted or signalled , you’re brain instantly thinks there something wrong with my application. Maybe i left something out , maybe i assigned the wrong letter, maybe my letter wasn’t good , any number of reasons . Your application might not even have been seen yet but your brain doesn’t think about any of that . It just thinks that everything is wrong until you get your first interview . Stay strong , we still got time .

Need honest opinions on signal . Am I cooked ? Non us img

For context , im a visa requiring non us img ,
step 1 pass (first attempt ).
Step 2 : 262 (first attempt ) .
Yog:2024 .
Worked as a doctor in my home country in IM department .
Research : none .
3 months of usce.
1 month hands on in paitent and clinic cardio rotation with full emr access and patient evaluation . 1 month clinic based cardio rotation with a different cardiologist in a different state this was observational hands on ; I.e could only examine paitents under supervision of attending .
2 weeks icu Observership at Oklahoma university.
2 weeks in paitents hands IM rotation in Miami with full emr access and hands on ( actually 4 weeks but by the time the eras application opens I’d have only completely 2 weeks .

Gold :

  1. Lahey , MA
  2. Trinity health Oakland ,
    3 . Mount Sinai Chicago

Silver :

  1. St Vincent , MA
  2. Oklahoma university program ( I know it’s a reach but into wilting cuz I did a rotation there )
  3. Insight hospital , Chicago
  4. Texas health resources Bedford / Denton
  5. Briton medical centre , Boston
  6. Rushers Monmouth medical centre
  7. Ascension Health , Milwaukee .

I’d appreciate any advice on my signals and if some of them are unrealistic .
Thanks in advance

Rate my current signals plus suggestions for other signals .

For context , im a visa requiring non us img , step 1 pass (first attempt ). Step 2 : 262 (first attempt ) . Yog:2024 . Worked as a doctor in my home country in IM department . Research (only one case report ) . 2 weeks in paitents hands IM rotation in a different state ( actually 4 weeks but by the time the eras application opens I’d have only completely 2 weeks .

Gold :

  1. Trinity health Oakland ( have a senior in the program willing to recommend me )
  2. Lahey Boston ( have a senior willing to recommend me )
  3. Mount Sinai Chicago ( 2 of the attending I worked with at my first cardio rotation finished both their residency and fellowship at mount Sinai and are willing to write a letter to the PD in my support )

Silver :

  1. Saint Vincent program MA ,
  2. Oklahoma university ( I know this is a bit of a stretch considering my research and img profile but I figured I did do a rotation here and signalling might be worth it . They alos have a decent number of imgs. )
  3. Insight hospital , Chicago ( did a rotation here )
  4. Ascension Saint Vincent hospital program ( Milwaukee ) .

Haven’t decided the rest of the signals . Honestly I think I will receive a mid-strong LOR from my rotations but I don’t wanna count my eggs before they hatch , so assume I’ll get average LORs. Are my golds too out of reach for me ?. What other programs can I look for to signal silver . Any advice would be appreciated .

What are my chances and what kind of programs should I be applying to ?

Non us visa requiring img . Yog: 2024 . Worked after graduation while studying for steps . Step 1 :p ( first attempt ) step 2 : 262 ( first attempt ) . 3 USCE - 2 with interventional cardiologist and one from OU ( for 2 week icu rotation ) . Ecfmg certification : I’ve applied but due to my medical council might not get it before sep 23rd . No research. Applying for IM

I think my biggest red flags are no research , no IM LOR , might not be ECFMG certified before sep 23rd , and visa requiring .

I’d appreciate any input including any other red flags I might have missed and what kind of programs I can apply to . Thank you

Need some advice on where I should apply and how likely it is I’ll match .

Non us IMG requiring visa . Yog; 2024 . Step 1 passed first attempt . Steps 2 262 first attempt . Trying to publish a paper now but other than that no research. Realistically can I match with this background considering I have no research. Applying for IM

Scored a 262 with low initial nbmes. Willing to answer any questions I can .

Nbme 10: 230 (2/23/26)
Nbme 11:233. (4/1/26)
Nbme 12: 235 (4/24/26)
Nbme 13: 240 (4/28/26)
Nbme 14:235 (5/7/26)
UWSA 2: 258 (5/15/26)
Nbme 15:250 (5/20/26)
Nbme 16: 269 (5/24/26)
Free 120: 86% (5/26/26)
Amboss score predictor : 247-265

Took the exam on 5/28/26

Felt like shit when taking it. Felt like shit when walking out. Felt like shit for the 5 weeks I had to wait for my score .

Ended up with 262

Scores:
NBME 10 - 230
NBME 11 - 233
NBME 12 - 235
NBME 13 - 240
NBME 14 - 235 (this one hurt lol)
UWSA2 - 258
NBME 15 - 250
NBME 16 - 269
Free120 - 86%
Real deal: 262
Honestly, after NBME 14 I thought I had hit my ceiling. Seeing a 5-point drop was brutal. Looking back, that exam probably helped me the most because it completely changed how I studied.
I finished one pass of UWorld and made Anki cards only for high-yield mistakes. I never made cards for every incorrect because that would’ve been impossible to keep up with.
The biggest thing I changed was after NBMEs 13-16 (and a few CMS forms). Instead of just reading explanations, I wrote down every topic I repeatedly got wrong.
Then I’d go to AMBOSS, do every question on that topic, and only after finishing the questions I’d read the High-Yield article. Doing the questions first made the article stick way better. It took forever, but it was probably the biggest reason my scores jumped.
I also did all the AMBOSS High-Yield stuff I could find:
200 Concepts
Ethics
Patient Safety/QI
Biostats
Vaccines
Screening
Risk factors
Nutrition
Those topics showed up more than I expected. I can’t say “20% of my exam was nutrition” because I genuinely don’t remember the distribution well enough, but there were definitely questions from all of those areas.
Another thing I started doing was reviewing questions I got right by guessing. Those are basically hidden incorrects.
If you’re a month out, I’d absolutely recommend the AMBOSS topic approach.
If you’re a week or two out, it’s honestly too time-consuming. I’d prioritize:
Ethics/QI
Biostats
Screening
Vaccines
Risk factors
AMBOSS High-Yield articles
200 Concepts
Last thing: don’t let one NBME destroy your confidence. I was convinced after NBME 14 that I wasn’t improving. A week later I got a 250, then a 269.
Also don’t trust your post-exam feelings. I walked out thinking I probably dropped below my practice scores and ended up with a 262.
Happy to answer any questions
If I didn’t answer your question in this I’ll try answering tomorrow .
