New to tenkara, not new to fishing. My tenkara rod came with a spool with furled leader wrapped around it. I see that keeping your line around a spool like this is a popular way to keep your line untangled when not fishing, and many folks seem to put the spool on their rod directly (i.e. the rod through the middle of the spool).

But... do you keep the spool on when you're actually fishing, or do you put it in a pocket or something? I haven't found any images of people tenkara fishing with a spool on their rod.

What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance!
