UniFi app on iOS simple mode?

Hi,

Picked up a UCG-Max as I’m trying to tidy up my network a bit, and single vendor source.

Wondering if anyone knows of a simple way (or other app) that i can use to toggle kids internet on/off, in addition to the normal scheduled blocks??

Use case is that I‘ve set up a scheduled block rule for the kids internet (on their own VLAN). I want network blocking, rather than WiFi SSID being dropped.

I can do this fine, works well in testing.

However, when i’m away, I want other adults in the house to be able to unblock the internet for the kids, eg if they are doing homework and it overruns.

Using the app itself isn’t something I would ask non-techies to do, as it requires navigating through multiple screens, and there is a possibility of finger trouble!

Even better would be a “pause for 30 minutes” type function, where the internet block for the kids is paused, and automatically resumes after a set period.

Anyone got any ideas if this can be achieved?

5ghz 4x4 on the UGS vs 2x2 on the XG

Hi,

Wondering if anyone has any experience of the U7 Pro XGS vs the U7 Pro XG specifically on the 4x4 vs 2x2 antenna, not for speed, but signal quality/range.

Im in a UK brick walled house, and currently have another brand with 5ghz 4x4 and they penetrate the brick fairly well.

Wondering if the change to 2x2 on the XG will make much of a difference to SNR?

UCG-Max with IDS/IPS and PPPoE

Hi

Wondered if anyone has any experience of throughput for a UCG-Max running PPPoE and IDS/IPS?

ISP is CityFibre in the UK, so stuck with PPPoE, via a VLAN tagged over RJ45 ONT.

I can only find that IDS/IPS on the Max is about 2.3 gbps, and that PPPoE will degrade that number, but not any idea of whats actually achievable…
