Is there such thing as too low blood pressure when on medication?
I am from Canada and I am 36 years old. Back in late June I was diagnosed with hypertension. I went to the hospital for an unrelated reason (a cut) and my BP was over 200 so they kept me overnight and ran a bunch of test. High blood pressure runs in my family for generations now, thanks genetics. Anyways the Dr I seen there prescribed me some medication, which is a twin medication, a Telmisartan/Amlodipine mix, 40mg/5mg. He also suggested I change my diet and maybe do a Mediterranean style died. I will admit I am overweight and could stand to lose a good few pounds. Anyways flash forward to today and I have been taking my medication daily and since then I put myself on a strict diet and have successfully lost 30 pounds. I just checked my BP three times and my highest was 119/65 with my lowest being 109/61. I still plan on losing more weight and be in a healthier weight range. I am nearing too low of levels? At some point should I speak to my family doctor about decreasing dose or is everything fine for now? Thank you all for your time.
