Are Thai Camouflage too dark to be effective?

I just saw the recent Thai-Chinese exercise and noticed that the Thai camo is pretty dark when compared to the Chinese pattern. So I searched a few photos of international exercise in Thailand and Thai-Cambodian conflict and it seems other patterns blend in better in both wet jungle and arid grasslands. These includes Chinese, Singaporean, and UK patterns. Not sure how these would fare in urban environments as well.
