J1 Transfer
Hi guys
I'm currently doing research at university x on a j1 visa.I am also self funded. ( I don't get paiid).
I got an opportunity to work in another university ( self funded as well).
For a j1 transfer the university site says the PI has to approve the transfer to the new institution.
My PI is super malignant, super toxic and unpredictable.
I'm being so much professional with him and I'm avoiding all kinds of conflicts despite him doing multiple violations. He is well established so he's running away with it.
For you who previously had a j1 transfer, how is the process, I wanted to talk with the RO but I don't think she's gonna say sth different than what is listed on their site. I don't think she's gonna help smoothen my transfer.
Will I need a lawyer for this??
How would the process go?
Is it legal that my PI forces me to either stay or shorten my program and go back home?
