Daycare in QLD accounting errors
Hello! I’m living on the Gold Coast and my child attends a daycare in Pimpama. We’ve been having accounting issues since early January when we were suddenly hit with $1k owing. They gave me a call and said they’d been checking through accounts and noticed the difference. It was building up because they were undercharging us $32 a week for about 6 months. I wasn’t aware we were meant to get regular invoices via email and they never sent a single email since we enrolled about this.
Since then we began paying $160 a week to pay this back overtime. But because we live about 45mins from daycare (it’s by my partners work) and my partner doesn’t work every weekday, we kept her back usually one day a week. We needed up going over her total absent days by 3 days and wasn’t notified, I only found out because I saw we were getting charged more then we should’ve. So now we owe about $360 extra just because of that.
We also had a separate Centerlink issue where they won’t pay 2 and a half weeks worth of subsidies because they wanted us to update something and we never received the letter they said they sent early march. But that I’ve come to terms I can’t fix. Just added an extra $1.2k to our daycare issues.
And now daycare seems to have been charging us extra for 3 weeks recently adding another $200 to our owing. Are they liable for their lack in notifying us? I get now I should’ve been checking especially last year but it’s my first child and I assumed it was all good epically since I checked around October and they said the accounting looked all good :/
We’re now at almost $1.7k even though we should’ve had that initial $1k paid off early April. There’s just constant issues and I’m overwhelmed trying to figure out what’s happening and why every month. Any help is appreciated 🌸
