Advice on school list (first time applicant)
Hi! As this cycle opens, I’m struggling to get a solid list of schools. I have a few in mind, but I’m concerned that many of them are either out of reach or very expensive. My concern is the uncertainty surrounding my DAT score (and low scores on practice tests) despite having high gpa. It really depends on how I lock in this month. I would greatly appreciate any advice and criticism you can offer!
Stats:
- CA instate
- 3.98 overall, 3.96 sgpa
- Taking DAT next month (averaging 420-30 currently, will appreciate any tips for oc, gc, and qr)
~300 hr shadowing
~200 hr dental & 50 hr medical volunteering
~100 hr non-dental/medical volunteering
- short term dental assisting experience (paid)
- 3 solid leadership role
- TA for a year across few courses
- Full year of research & full year of research courses (?) — presented at multiple internal & external symposium and conferences
-LOR from dentist, science profs, volunteer director
