Advice for travel insurance whilst abroad and going to visit back home temporarily

I'm currently living in Australia on a working holiday visa, and I'm going back home to the UK soon for a little over a month, then I'm coming back to Australia. For context, I don't have travel insurance right now since I can use Medicare (although I really should get travel insurance for things Medicare can't cover. I had travel insurance for my flight here, however.) And, being from the UK, Im covered by the NHS when back home.

So where should I buy travel insurance from, the UK or Australia? And when should I get cover for exactly? I don't know if to get cover just for the flights home and back, or if I should get cover for now all the way up until I come back to Australia (and afterwards, get insurance for the rest of my time here, although I'm not sure how long it'll be).

Any help and recommendations would be really appreciated!
