CrossInk- RSVP 1.0 Release
The other day u/AntoniBourdain requested RSVP reading on these devices. I ended up making it work, forked from CrossInk.
This replaces the regular Reader function with an RSVP style function. You can select between 1 and 3 words to be displayed at a time and the display speed may be changed in increments of 5%. 1 word on screen equates to about 90 wpm at 100% speed. 3 words would be roughly 270 wpm. I could probably expand to 5 words on smaller font sizes. I had it going faster but found that when the screen is refreshing so fast it does not properly respond to button inputs. I ended up having to slow it down to ensure that inputs still worked. Maybe somebody else can figure out a better implementation.
The next page button is now a pause/play button. The previous page button now goes back one paragraph/line break. Speed and the number of words displayed can be adjusted in Reader settings.
I don't know how helpful this is for actual speed reading, but for those that struggle with focus or dyslexia this may be helpful. I recommend setting your screen refresh high. Also this probably eats battery more quickly but I haven't done a battery test.
