Waterman Carène

This is the most beautiful pen body I have ever encountered. I'm generally more of a fountain pen guy, but when I bought this as a fountain pen in marine amber, I needed another one in a different medium. Hands down the best. G2 REFILLS FIT NO FOOLING. I can use G2 Navy 1.0 and I feel like the king of the world. I found this one on eBay so I highly recommend you check out second hand stores before you buy new. The only down side is the plastic section, but I got over it quickly.

Steel v. Gold

I know this is entirely subjective but I've always wondered what others think since I don't know anyone in the hobby personally. For those of you who have a decent collection, would you agree that one vintage/used gold nibbed fountain pen is better than a handful of steel nibbed fountain pens if the price is similar? If I had to do it all again while still being able to try different nibs, barrel sizes, and pen lengths, I would much rather save my money and have the Pelikan 400 by itself, instead of buying multiple similar pens like the Asvine C80. What are your thoughts?
