I’m an incoming sophomore and want to be a CA my junior year. When/where do applications come out? What’s the process like? Any insight helps!

I want to maximize my package as much as possible. I know no matter what, it is still a gamble, but I want to ensure my chances at being accepted are as high as can be.

I am currently going to be a junior in college and I major in aerospace engineering with a 4.0 GPA. I volunteer as a teaching assistant at my college in the math department, lead campus events for the students every week, volunteer at the youth center near my college, have had three internships with the military (two with the Navy, one with the Air Force), and have letters of rec. from each of those internships. I also have a lot of research experience with two publications in the aerospace sector, and I am president of the spacecraft development club at my school (which just launched a small research satellite).

Obviously, AFOQT scores matter too, and I have been practicing a ton for that. I am pretty comfortable talking to officers, so I am hoping the interview goes okay. Physically, my scores are pretty good (my 2 mile time is 14 minutes which is what I was most worried about), but they can be improved.

What else could I do to maximize my chances for OTS? I really want to join the Air Force, but officers I have talked to say that I should not enlist since it might set me back, and I cannot do AFROTC since I would not have three years. Any help is appreciated!
