Fake Door & Market Testing Advice? (I will not promote)
I’m trying to collect data on where potential users of my app are most likely to see and click on my app. Im trying to answer the question: “how will my users find my app?”
The best I can come up with right now is to put out ads with a description of the app and the need it solves with a link/qr code to download the app/ go to the website. The landing page would be your typical, “thanks for showing interest…. Put your email below to be notified when the app becomes available…” I want to create a separate landing page for each ad type (posters in likely user areas, facebook ad links, job posting boards, Reddit post, etc) to gauge where my audience sees and acts on exposure to the app. I’m mostly concerned with tracking how many clicks are done through each medium, and not so much with the actual filling out of the email (though it would be a nice plus).
Is there a more elegant approach to gathering the type of data I want? Is a fake door strategy the most effective way to go about this, or is there a more efficient or better way to do market testing like this?
Any advice/insight is greatly appreciated
