Post PR Checklist
Sharing my checklist for anyone who's reached this point in their journey. (congrats!) I found it super helpful to have this tracked. (my list may be overkill, so modify as you want.)
- Verify info & Download eCOPR
- Make physical copies
- Make digital copies (save to files, email yourself, whatever is secure)
- Sign your eCoPR! You'll need to use the signed one for all purposes moving forward, like health card applications, etc.
- Make digital copies of the signed doc
- Apply for a Social Insurance Number.
- Make physical and digital copies of your SIN
- Apply for a Health Card
- Make physical and digital copies of your temporary health card document
- Once you receive your physical card, save digital and scanned copies
- Research family doctors and connect
- If you're eligible, look into the Dental plan
- Update your bank
- Update CRA
- Update current and past employers
- Spend some time researching any new benefits you can access (like language services)
- Keep a tracking document for any travels outside CA, if citizenship is something you'd like to apply for.
- The PR can be revoked for serious crimes, etc. So...don't do that.
