Pizza Twist (Indian style pizza) is coming to Stony Brook shopping center

Pizza Twist, a chain that specializes in Indian style pizza, is planning to open in Stony Brook shopping center. The address is 9038 Taylorsville Road; the leasing diagram shows that’s between Hotworx and Avis car rental, near the Starbucks.

Pizza Twist offers some mainstream pizzas (BBQ chicken, pepperoni), but the menu is mostly things like curry paneer pizza and butter chicken pizza.

I posted about this chain three or four years ago, when it announced it was coming to Louisville, but hadn’t heard anything more until this week. I don’t know when it will open, but it applied for a permit to put up a sign today.

Is Adelita Mexican Restaurant moving to the old Chik’n & Mi spot?

A permit application has been filed to put up a sign for Adelita Mexican Restaurant at 1765 Mellwood Ave., where Chik’n & Mi used to be. I assume that means Adelita is moving there from its current small location on Frankfort Avenue; does anyone have more information? I hope the restaurant does well; I really like its food.

2 revolving sushi bars planned: Toku, Sumo

Two new revolving sushi bars are coming to the East End.

Toku Sushi plans to open at 9797 Blairwood Road, the former Bob Evans building near Hurstbourne Parkway and I-64. This is apparently the second location of a Lexington restaurant. I saw them renovating the building recently, but I don’t know when it’s supposed to open.

Sumo Revolving Sushi Bar will be opening at 12418 La Grange Road, the old El Nopal space in the Forest Springs shopping center, just outside the Snyder. I believe this place is connected to the Sumo Sushi that opened a couple years ago near Churchill Downs. Again, I don’t know when it will open, but they’ve been working on the space for several months.

Colombian restaurant opens in Stony Brook area (El Fogon de los Parceros)

El Fogon de los Parceros is now open at 8603 Citadel Way, near Stony Brook Drive and Hurstbourne Parkway. It’s a Colombian restaurant that apparently started as a food truck on Preston Highway. I don’t think it’s been open very long because the signs still have the name of the previous restaurant, Guatelinda.

Why a Chinese-owned company (GE Appliances) is bringing factory jobs back to the U.S.

GE Appliances is a poster child for the president’s promised manufacturing revival. But tariffs are making it harder to onshore jobs.

bb.q Chicken (Korean fried chicken) is coming to Chamberlain Lane at Westport

There are “coming soon” signs up for bb.q Chicken at the former Hardee’s building on Chamberlain Lane, just north of Westport Road. I think they just started working on it, so it’s probably several months away from opening.

bb.q Chicken is a Korean fried chicken chain that's similar to CM Chicken, which already has three locations in Louisville and one in Clarksville. I’ve never tried bb.q Chicken; is anyone familiar with it?

This is a big expansion for Doc Crow's. I hope it works out for them.

Full story from the Lexington Herald Leader: https://archive.is/RRPQu

A new restaurant has opened at Goodwood’s former locations at 200 Lexington Green Circle Unit 100 in Lexington, 109 W. Main St. in Frankfort and 108 S. Main St. in O’Fallon, Missouri.

According to Ted Bertuca Jr., who owns Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse & Raw Bar in Louisville, he reached an agreement to take over the leases on those locations last week and began operations on April 22.

The restaurants also have retained staff at all three spots, he said.

Bertuca said the new concept will be a slightly different version of his existing restaurant, and will be called Doc Crow’s Social.
