Would the human race currently transcend?

Currently rewatching the show and got to thinking would the human race at this point in time, or in a prior period of time, have been worthy of transcendence?

Personally I think the answer is no given the state of the world lol but it’s still an interesting question to ponder. What would have had to have gone differently / how would things realistically need to change? Was there a period of time in which we perhaps would have achieved transcendence?

While I think this plot in the show departed a lot from where the show began, it drives an interesting lens to the theme of morality, what it means to be human and religion. If humans all believed in the same “afterlife” (or transcendence… ie same religion), would this be the only way we could achieve something enlightening like transcendence?

Sorry if this question has already been asked in this group, I’m new to this subreddit!

Baby cardinal help

Heard a female and male red cardinal by my window for about an hour, was driving my indoor cats crazy. I live in a dugout basement and discovered there is a baby cardinal stuck and can’t get out (because it can’t fly and there’s a dugout garden that’s pretty steep for me to climb in and out of. I went down and scooped out the bird with a wooden kitchen spoon and dustpan. I left him in my landlords portion of the garden, under the tree where I suspect the nest is in the dustpan. I’m back inside for now and left the dustpan out there with him on it for an hour or so. But I worry as my neighbours have outdoor cats that frequently are in my landlords backyard. Is there anything more I should do? Really hoping I did everything right !!
