I’m wondering, which parent do you think Cheng Xiaoshi inherited his powers from? Is there any hint in the show that tells us which specifically it was?

It’s true that his mom, Shao Yuanyuan, is the one shown with the ability to time travel, but she’s also using it to save her husband. Since this dynamic seems to directly parallel Lu Guang, this could imply that potentially BOTH of CXS’s parents can time travel, assuming that his mom only gained this power after Cheng Weimin died.

I think it makes more sense for his dad to have been the original carrier for this ability since it more closely reflects CXS’s position in relation to LG, and also explains why he would have been qualified to teach at Bahati.

Could this be implying that our trio will face a threat of organisations in the future trying to weaponize superpowers and apply them to technology? Maybe by separating it from the original user?

We already saw that death or inheriting it from a parent are the known means of acquiring powers, so yikes.

And I know the main point of the clip is likely just to draw parallels between the man in The Time Machine and Lu Guang by both traveling to save their loved ones.

But it just struck me that here they’re clearly depicting the use of powers with a machine, that don’t belong to the man himself. He isn’t the one “diving”; the machine is.

Which makes me wonder if suspicious and enterprising types like Liu Xiao & maybe Jae Lee could be responsible for tracking down superpowered humans to steal their powers? Could explain why Bahati was targeted…
