I have been experiencing bad insomnia so the dr said I can cut down to once a day. Will I have bad rebound effects from dropping the nightime dose at once?

This is meant for short term use and I worry about having to taper off
Just had a dentist visit in which they suggested my front tooth needs a root canal. The reason being that the tooth is a dead tooth, but it has been for at least ten years. Is it actually necessary that I need a root canal, granted I’ve had no issues with the tooth ever? They also suggest internal bleaching for the discoloration of the tooth.
