Looking for a Song for an Audition

I am in my late 40s and am auditioning for a musical for the first time in about 20 years. The musical is a new, locally written show, so I have little to go on for the music style/sound. The audition info just says "16–32 bars of a contemporary musical theater song (comedic or character-driven preferred). " Can anyone recommend a good song for an out of practice 40-something? Most of the songs for older women are ballads, or may not be considered "contemporary".
Songs that have come to mind for me are "When You're Good to Mama" or "It's Today", maybe "The Man in the Moon is a Lady" or even "Little Girls", but don't know if any of those would be appropriate. I used to sing soprano, but over time, my voice is more mezzo/altoish. I don't expect to be cast, but I want to put my best foot forward. Songs also originally written for men would eb ok, I just worry about them being too low (would LOVE to do "Jackie" from Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, but the lower notes are too low).
