Child bike seat for Marin DSX 2
Hello,
I have a question about a child seat for my Marin DSX 2. Is there anyone here who has already installed a child seat on this bike? I’m considering a front child seat (Thule Yepp 2 mini) and I’m not sure if the bike can support me (180 cm, 70 kg) and my child (12 kg).
I contacted Marin’s support team about this, and they wrote the following: “Please don’t take this the wrong way, but all Marin bikes are designed and intended for ‘one-person’ use, and I recommend using a child ‘trailer’ for the safest operation in most circumstances. This will not void your warranty as long as the trailer is mounted and used according to the manufacturer’s specifications.”
This response has made me a bit uneasy, and I’d rather not risk the top tube breaking or something similar while riding. I’ll only be using the bike seat for city riding or similar terrain.
