I bumped into cover songs released by bongo cat or uiia cat, are these really cover songs? or derivative work? Im pretty sure they dont have derivative license though. how do distros and dsp allow them

I just singed up on toolost and tried to publish a cover song but it seems that the copyright year cant be before the sound copyright????? am I missing something???
