Bonds and a 2022-style event

Bonds are seen as the "safe bucket" of the 3-Fund Portfolio. Yet in 2022 all three were down. So in trying to avoid repeating history I started searching for a fund in my 401K that would survive this scenario and I found that in 2022 UTIXX (Treasury cash reserves) was actually positive. Is it worth considering it in a retirement portfolio in lieu or to complement the bond allocation?

So the discussion is always between VTI+VXUS vs VT and the endless debates regarding which one is better. But how about Bonds? So if one prefers VT then why not go with AOR with already includes the recommended 40% bonds allocation with it?
