I unknowingly did a 2 hour bochka DJ session. (it felt like a hour)
this is good. my blending has gotten so refined to the point i hypnotized myself. i was doing multi fader cuts, opposite frequencies, from 165-183bpm. im really happy i was able to pull that off.
one thing thats nice is im one of, if not the only bochka dj in my shitty american city. everyone hear relies on big dopamine hits, and the first time its fine, but when it happens at literally every rave? it gets bland so fast and people keep consuming the same shitty mainstream hard techno drops.
I finally did my first rave last weekend as a second to last closer and i was mixing in psychoacoustics (sound term but it means perceived intensity). I did not change my BPM of 175 the entire hour. I just changed the intensity and layers slowly without ever needing to touch the tempo slider once.
When i mentioned i stayed the same bpm to people post set, people were really shocked and that means i cooked which is great. Im opening for another rave next weekend and im going to do a very weird bochka/melodic hybrid and ive been preparing for it all day.
IF i can somehow make 2 hours fly by, I know my skill ceiling can only get higher.
I crave difficulty and the trance.
